Pulling Together For Columbia Valley Ecosystems<\/h1>\n

Invasive species management is easy to overlook as an environmental priority, but it’s critical in preserving the ecosystems and even the economic strength of our region.<\/p>\n

In June of 2025, the East Kootenay Invasive Species Council (EKSIC)<\/a> used funding from the 2024 Community Grants stream to support a series of workshops and community events that addressed the problem in our region.<\/p>\n

These funds were used to support programming from March through December that engaged the public and helped complete important work that benefits our local community. The Weed Pull at Rotary Park in Radium Hot Springs was one of those events, and brought out locals and visitors alike. There was an education booth and an opportunity to participate through identifying and removing the species that were targeted as priorities.<\/p>\n

At the Columbia Valley Community Foundation, our role is to provide strategic funding that supports projects aligned with community priorities. We\u2019re proud to fund initiatives like this one, which strengthen environmental stewardship, support climate resilience, and foster learning across our valley.<\/p>\n
